What are some of the things we do during class:
Pre K / Kindergarten
Explore sound and music through singing, movement, listening, and moving our bodies.
Use clapping and stomping to keep a steady beat.
Develop Motor skills with singing and dancing.
Develop young singing voices with the use of age-appropriate songs.
Provide different activities to explore the concept of "Fast and Slow" & "Loud and Soft".
First / Second Grade
Explore sound and music through singing, movement, listening, and moving our bodies.
Explore the concept of steady beat, rhythm by participating in a variety of activities, including singing games, and activities involving percussion, dancing, and moving to the beat.
Experience a variety of songs to both play and sing along with.
Improvises a simple rhythmic or melodic pattern using voice, percussion, and movements.
Create their own rhythmic or melodic patterns while playing instruments or using body percussion (snap, pat, clap, stamp) by using improvisation.
Develop music vocabulary
Third Grade
Continues to explore music literacy by reading and writing rhythms, melodies and basic music symbols.
Explore the concepts of steady beat, melody, rhythm and form by participating in a variety of activities, including singing games, activities involving dance and movement, and playing assorted instruments.
Develop singing voices and build a repertoire of age-appropriate songs.
Create their own rhythmic or melodic patterns through improvisation while playing instruments or using body percussion (snap, pat, clap, stamp).
Develop music vocabulary.
