Vanguard Academy Charter School Joins Commissioner Miller In Celebrating National School Lunch Week RGV, Texas - Vanguard Academy Charter School joins Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller in celebrating National School Lunch Week Oct. 14-18, using the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) and School Nutrition Association (SNA) theme “School Lunch Pirates: Find Your Treasure!” All week Vanguard Academy Charter School will serve a bounty of healthy lunches that provide students with the energy and nutrition they need for their adventures at sea or on land. “Celebrating National School Lunch Week with a fun theme focuses children’s attention on the healthy meals served in the lunchroom,” Commissioner Miller said. “Every year TDA and I provide resources schools can use to promote this annual event. Posters, theme days, special menus, and more enhance the creativity school nutrition teams already bring to their work. This week, I encourage all Texans to join this adventure by recognizing the great work done by your local school nutrition professionals.” Vanguard Academy Charter School encourages every student to enjoy a nutritious school lunch every day this week. They can enjoy healthy menu items fit for a hungry pirate! Students can find their treasure through planned activities. Vanguard Academy parents and caregivers can tell their students about National School Lunch Week events and encourage them to participate by enjoying a delicious school lunch. More information on the Vanguard Academy’s menu can be found by contacting your child’s school. “Thank you TDA for the blessing of providing Vanguard Academy students with a healthy meal” said Child Nutrition Director, Galina O. Reyes.
