Mr. Sanchez has taught music for over twelve years. In this time he has worked as a private studio instructor, classical guitar teacher, elementary music teacher, middle school & high school mariachi instructor and assistant middle and high school band director. Mr. Sanchez believes that music is a skill that rewards students in many ways. He maintains high standards and expectations for himself and his students. To be the best, you must expect the best of yourself. Mr. Sanchez holds a Bachelors Degree in music education from The University of Texas Pan-American and is currently working on his Masters in Music Education at Bob Jones University.

Course Description:
This class provides fine arts credit for 6th-12th grade students. Students learn to sing and play instruments in the mariachi style. Mariachi is a performing art and all mariachi students are required to sing and play an instrument during performances. Performances are taken for grades and are not optional.

Performing arts give students opportunities to learn and master skills that will aid them in future careers. These skills include how to present in public, how to collaborate in problem solving, how to apply planning and organizational strategies to see projects from start to finish, how to engage in teamwork and communicate positively and with respect.
